We care for women who have been victims of sexual assault. Sexual assault prevention services, provided by White County Domestic Violence Prevention Include but are not limited to:
- Referrals for physical and mental health assessments
- Reproductive health advocacy
- Assistance with orders of protection
- Accompaniment to court
- Accompaniment to meet with law enforcement or prosecutors
- Crisis counseling/support and encouragement for decision making
- A safe, secure location where you will be given temporary shelter if needed
- A caring staff that can help you gain insight into the traumatizing event or events
What is the definition of sexual assault in Arkansas?
There are several crimes that constitute sexual assault in Arkansas including sexual assault in the 1-4th degrees, sexual extortion, sexual indecency with a child, statutory rape, and rape.
Who is affected by sexual violence?
- Every 68 seconds another American is sexually assaulted.
- 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime (14.8% completed, 2.8% attempted)
- 1 in 6 men has been sexually abused or assaulted
- 21% of TGQN (transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming) college students have been sexually assaulted
Where do sexual assaults usually occur?
- 55% of sexual assaults occur at or near the victim's home
- 15% occur in an open public place
- 12% occur at or near a relative’s home
- 10% in an enclosed but public area, such as a parking lot or garage
- 8% occur on school property
