Human trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person through force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of a commercial sex act or for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage or slavery. In a nutshell, human trafficking is modern-day slavery. And it happens, even in Arkansas.
When most people think of human trafficking, they think of someone being kidnapped and taken to another country or being chained to a wall in a basement. However, this is usually not the case. Most trafficking happens where the person lives, and their bondage is psychological.
